One piece Cody kite
According to Wikipedia: Samuel Franklin Cowdery (later known as Samuel Franklin Cody) (6 March 1867 – 7 August 1913) was an early pioneer of manned flight, most famous for his work on the large kites known as Cody War-Kites that were used in World War I as a smaller alternative to balloons for artillery spotting. He was also the first man to conduct a powered flight in Britain, on 16 October 1908[1].

Dynamic Spreader II
Based on the great ideas of Mike LeDuc, I created my own dynamic Spreader for my Levitation Delta kite.
The connectors were 3D printed by Joris Bijnens. He designed them to
give maximal support with minimal weight. At this moment, nothing is
glued. All the elements have such narrow tolerances that everything
sticks exactly on the right place on the rod....
Once we have the final design, we will share with you our flight experience.

Workshop:
Our favorite kite to make in our workshops with kids is the Sled Kite. We like the Sled Kite for kids because it is very forgiving of mistakes made building the kite, and very forgiving of rough handling. Each workshop includes the material (fabric, plastic or Tyvek) and a wooden template. All sticks needed, some tape, parts and string needed to complete the kite are included. For the Tyvek option, we even can bring crayons, paint etc. to decorate them!
Field Intro:
The introduction course is a perfect way to get you started in the kite world.
We will teach you the basic handling and maneuvers so that you can develop your own piloting skills later on. The aim of this course is also to get you introduced into the different disicplines of kiting and above all; to make sure you enjoy yourself as much as possible.
- Introduction to freestyle trick kiting (2 lines)
- Taste the power of the 4 lines traction kite
- Discover the art of kite fighting
- Feel the grace of big single line kites

For the more advanced workshop: A flapping crow kite made of plastic foil and a bamboo frame. The kite has a particular motion during flying as if it might be a real crow. If you fly the flapping crow kite near wood, many crows will attack the kite. (An idea out of the Japanese kite collection)
How to get started:
Materiaal
- Stevige plakband
- Zachte plastiek folie (vb. van draagtassen of grote vuilniszakken)
- Dunne houten stokjes (vb. sate-stokjes, plant-stokjes), lengte 45 cm
- Staart I 2,5 meter lengte, 3 cm breed (maak dit uit draagtasfolie of inpaklint)
- Toomlijn: zeer dun stevig touw, lengte 2 meter
- Vliegerlijn: dun touw, lengte +20 meter
- Lineaal, tekendriehoek, potlood, cuttermesje, schaar, snijtafel

Uttrayan
About Uttrayan:
According to Mital Sharedalal: Makar Sankranti (Uttrayan) is one of the most auspicious occasions for the Hindus and is celebrated in almost all parts of the country in myriad cultural forms with great devotion, fervor & gaiety. It is a harvest festival. Makar Sankranti is perhaps the only Indian festival whose date always falls on the same day every year i.e. the 14th of January. Makar Sankranti is the day when the glorious Sun-God begins its ascendancy and entry into the Northern Hemisphere and thus it signifies an event wherein the Sun-God seems to remind their children that 'Tamaso Ma Jyotir Gamaya', may you go higher & higher, to more & more Light and never to Darkness. To Hindus, the Sun stands for knowledge, spiritual light and wisdom. Makar Sankranti signifies that we should turn away from the darkness of delusion in which we live and begin to enjoy a new life with bright light within us to shine brighter and brighter. We should gradually begin to grow in purity, wisdom and knowledge, even as the Sun does from the Day of Makar Sankranti. The festival of Makar Sankranti is highly regarded by the Hindus from North to down South. The day is known by various names and a variety of traditions are witnessed as one explores the festival in different states

International Kite happening
Antwerp - Linker Oever
12:00pm - 8:00pm
We will add more and more info
Beste vliegervrienden, Mail 20 01 2011
