Domburg

Yesterday, we had a great day flying our kites above the 13th-century medieval castle in Domburg (Westhove).  The wind was just enough to lift the RIG up to 150 meter above the castle.

Crap KAP

Don't laugh!  ;-)  I am back in the air!  Just bought a small Canon A2400IS,  installed CHDK for interval shooting (thanks to a handy program of Dave Mitchel called Stick) and from the packaging of the camera I made a small RIG.
Tomorrow, we are back in the air!!

Air plane

The Boeing 707 from the African republic of Benin is parked on the roof  of the GoWalt complex in Wetteren. A Lockheed P 80 is exhibited at the parking lot . Rumors are telling us that the B707 private plane flew with the leader of the Moon sect (Moonsekte) and the President of the Republic of Benin. In 1993 the unit was held on the ground at the Ostend Airport . The inside is/was in excep-tionally good condition ; There are still original teak cabinets in the cabin and the kitchens are well preserved.   The tail fin was removed in 2010 . The engine nacelles were removed , which are nowhere to be seen. The aircraft is now in poor condition.

To make these pictures, I used a camera (Canon G15) lifted at 150 meter high by a kite (strandvlieger). The kite is attached/and secured to my body.  In this case the lifting power was produced by Frank Dehu's yellow vented Rokkaku.

The camera rotates and is triggered automatically, but I can take over all functionalities from the ground.   Yes, I do see what the camera is shooting (video downlink) .

Omnichem Wetteren

The castle with park was initially part of a Gun powder factory Cooppal of Wetteren. Now is the property of an industrial company called Omnichem.

I was invited by the sola kite club in Norway to come over for the weekend to fly kites. I couldn't resist to take some pictures from the neighborhood were we stayed.  I think I will plan a vacation there too!

Thanks to the KAPshop setting up this RIG.

Great piece of equipment the only disatvantage is that the system doesn't have a 0° together with a 15° tilt position.

Remark: The switch setting (9 OFF and 10 FF) in the beginning of the movie is for the Mode 0 movement (meaning no tilt).  The switch setting for the movie itself is (9 ON and 10 ON) Mode 3 movement   0° - 15° - 45° and 70° .

De voorbereiding draaien op volle toeren.
Vanaf mid April geven we in verschillende scholen een spoed cursus vlieger bouwen. De bedoeling is dat alle (+130) kinderen  daarna hun persoonlijke vlieger de lucht inlaten op 18 mei.

Vliegerhappening 2015 Intro

We staan er klaar voor!

- Schrijf je in voor de vliegerhappening (17 05 2015) via een mailtje naar Bert.maetens@gmail.com.   Wij zorgen voor een leuk feestje, een drankje en een fritje.

- Intussen zijn we gestart met het organiseren van de vlieger workshop in scholen. De teller staat op +100 kinderen die naar huis zullen gaan met een rood vliegertje.
