Folon

We were invited by the “Fondation Folon” to fly our kites in the magnificent park of  “Château de La Hulpe” better known as Domaine Solvay. Although the wind was very hectic, we had a great day of fun and I am sure that we convinced some kids and papas to fly their kite more often in the park.

We closed this beautiful day with a great barbeque at the farm  at the heart of the magnificent Parc, The farm is also housing the collection of  Folon; A Belgian artist.  (By the way Folon was a great kite maker and collector)

Thanks for the invitation; I am looking forward to come back to make some kite aerial pictures of the castle and to visit the Folon collection.

A beautiful Photon fighter kite made by Tim Elverston (Windfiredesign). The Photon once owned by Tom Banks; now in good hands of Christophe Tournay.

Maimouna, an artiest of 13 years old made these beautiful black and white line drawings.  While waiting in line for the kite work shop at the vliegerhapping linker oever, kids will be able to color and design there own kite.  Here some examples.  Don't you think they are just great!

The noordwijk boys

Last week we were visiting Nico van den Berg and his kite friends in Noordwijk. The wind was gusting up to 40Km/h, so they couldn't put to many kites out. As compensation of the long drive, Nico send me some nice pictures of previous years..   Thanks Nico.

 A hand painted rokkaku (2,5 m high) by Kas Hoorn based on these traditional Japanese woodblocks.  The kite is already 20 years old but didn't loose any of its glamour.

On my way home from a great birthday party, I saw this beautiful place near De Haan. The white colors of the refurbished farm (now a nice hotel: Kapelhoeve, De Haan) and the yellow colors of  the rapeseed was the perfect combination for a spring feeling. I took this picture with my Canon G12 lifted by my kite at a height of let say 30-40 meter.  For more info about the hotel
