Plutz III

Having fun with my Plutz III in Bintulu

The Plutz 3 glider designed by Leong Chee Wan the famous Maylasian kite designer. The Plutz 3 kite is  a kind of hybrid between a Marconi kite and a Platz kite.

Total Height- 1meter
Span - 1 meter
Frame - Pultruded carbon amd microcarbons
Range - 0mph - 4mph
Line: 10lb

I went this afternoon to the Verbeke Foundation; One of the largest private collections of modern art in Europe and just 20 minutes drive from my place.   Although, I've seen quite some exhibitions but this one surprised me completely. A Sunday  late afternoon at the beach in Ouddorp. An empty beach a dramatic sky ...That's exactly why I love the place.

I was immediately hooked on the new indoor kite, iFlite, from Patrick Tan. layangman@gmail.com.  Designed for small enclosed space. The iFlite is framed in micro-carbon (1mm for the spreader and a two step leading edge and spine of 1,5mm - 1mm . It has a polyetheylene skin, no stitching (only a few dots of a co-polymer, multipurpose, high grade water resistant sealant) and fittings and stopper-beads hand made.

Don't put this beauty in your kitebag, but keep it close to you; in your briefcase; your jacket or your car so that you can pull it out on every free windless moment. I can guarantee you will enjoy it.

There are 3 versions at this moment; Shall we say: The classic one; Call it the iflite STD, The new released iflite vented (with a vented hole of +/-7,5cm) and the soon released larger version called the iflite II. The iflite II will be 30% bigger than the iflite STD (+/- 78cm by 45cm). Based on pictures and videos I have seen the vented iflite II is significantly slower and more graceful.

If I am correct he sold more than 500 pieces all over the world.

For the sewing machine, I use a Brother SN7220-403 (straight stitch, needle feed, thread trimming and servo motor) the closest current model is the S-7220B, alternatively SunStar KM350A-7. For the Brother I bought mine from www.jbsewing.com & they sell secondhand machines. For SunStar and secondhand machines I use www.alan-godrich.com. Good luck in finding one, don't be tempted by the first machine you find or the first price offered. Karl

According Wikipedia Laarne Castle (Dutch: Kasteel van Laarne) is a moated castle in Laarne in East Flanders, Belgium. Established in the 11th or 12th century to guard the approaches to Ghent from the sea, it was comprehensively renovated in the 17th century.
Since 1953 the castle has belonged to the Koninklijke Vereniging der Historische Woonsteden en Tuinen van België ("The Royal Association of Historical Houses and Gardens in Belgium"), to whom it was given by the last private owner, the Comte de Ribaucourt. It is a protected national monument and is used as a museum.
